beethoven & schubert RIP

beethovenschubert

listening tonight to a BBC radio 3 programme about schubert’s last piano sonata, which he wrote a few weeks before his early death, i hear the phrase ‘buried 4 graves away from beethoven’. that schubert should have died so young is heart-breaking, but the image of him lying so close to beethoven leaves me, for some reason, speechless.
